The role
In July 2023, we opened our first Regional Distribution Centre in Warrington – this is a place where donated items from the public (like clothes and homeware) are taken and processed centrally in bulk ready for them to be sent out to our high street shops to sell.
We’re looking for keen volunteers to support this exciting opportunity – a chance to be involved in something new and different, help to drive sales to support our research and gain valuable skills along the way.
What you will be doing
While this list is not exhaustive, it gives you a flavour of some of the typical tasks that you will be helping with at the new Regional Distribution Centre:

Sorting through donated items, identifying which ones are suitable for sale in our shops

Getting the items ready for selling – hanging, steaming, pricing, and tagging

Learning about our pricing structure and how to get the most from the donated items

Assisting our drivers in the collection, delivery and distribution of stock

Keeping things tidy, clean and well organised
Your commitment and location
There is no minimum time commitment for this role, we'll be happy to have you for as long as you're able to support us!
This role is based in our Cancer Research UK Regional Distribution Centre located at Unit 2B, Talyor Business Park, Risley, WA3 6BL.
What kind of person are we looking for
You don't need any formal experience to volunteer in our Regional Distribution Centre, you just need to be motivated, hardworking and enjoy being part of a team.
It’s a great way to learn retail, distribution and logistics skills and be part of a lovely team that’s welcoming, professional and committed to our goal of beating cancer sooner.
Please note that you must be aged 18 or over to volunteer in our Distribution Centre or any of our shops or stores, unless you're on a recognised scheme such as Duke of Edinburgh. Feel free to email us if you're under 18, to check if you can get involved.

What support will we give you?
There’ll be a full induction as well as ongoing training opportunities to make sure you’re fully confident and able to excel in your role. Plus, you will work closely with staff and volunteers at the Regional Distribution Centre who will support you.
