Celebrating Volunteers’ Week
This Volunteers’ Week, taking place on 3 – 9 June, we’re saying thank you to our brilliant community of volunteers, who help to make our life-saving research possible. Every shirt you steam, event you attend, petition you sign, story you share and hour you give makes a difference for people affected by cancer.
A message from Michelle
"Each and every one of you makes a huge difference."
Michelle Mitchell, our Chief Executive, has recorded a special video message to recognise and celebrate our volunteers for everything you do to support Cancer Research UK and the significant impact you have on our work.

Listen to our podcast episodes
Two of our wonderful volunteers, Penny and Rhian have, shared their stories on our That Cancer Conversation podcast, landing on the 27 May and 3 June.
Penny, one of our Campaigns Ambassadors, has been volunteering with Cancer Research UK for over 10 years, advocating for National and local policy change to help improve cancer outcomes for everyone.
Rhian has been volunteering since 2021, hosting the warm-up and finish lines at Race for Life and Pretty Muddy events across London. She was inspired to start volunteering after her own experience with cancer, and that of a close friend.

Volunteering visits to celebrate Volunteers’ Week
To celebrate Volunteers' Week, the Volunteering team have been getting out and about to meet some of our volunteers and say thank you in-person for your contributions.
The team have also been getting stuck into a range of volunteering activities, experiencing first-hand what a day-in-the-life looks like for volunteers at our events, in our shops, on our fundraising committees and more. Members of the team share their highlights below.
